5th place at state competition. 2nd place percussion.

1996

 

May:

-Jeff Bowling resigns as Director.

-Jim Whittenberg takes over as Director.

-Lori Carroll chosen as Drum Major, defeating Allison Rasbury.

-Allison Rasbury becomes Assistant Drum Major.

 

July:

-Dexter Tenison elected as the 1st Band Captain of the LCHS Band.

-Other firsts include Darren Owens (Lieutenant), Jinger Griner (Sgt. of Arms), and Allison Rasbury (Secretary). 

 

*Record breaking year: 1st place at every competition including "Sweepstakes" awards at the Southeastern Marching Classic,   Lebanon Invitational, and the Smoky Mountain Invitational.

 

Show:  Swinging Chariots, Vehicle, Jubilee, A Whiter Shade of Pale.

 

November:

4th place at state competition. 

Band-Superior,        Field Commander-Excellent,

Guard-Excellent,      Percussion-Excellent.

1997

 

January:

-Jinger Griner elected as the 2nd Band Captain of the LCHS Band.

-Other winners include Brandon Harris (Lieutenant), Brandon Bates (Sgt. of Arms), and Allison Rasbury (Secretary).

 

May:

-Lori Carroll and Allison Rasbury resign as Drum Major and Assistant Drum Major respectively.

-Darrin Duncan chosen as Drum Major, defeating Sara Bersche'.

-Sara Bersche' becomes Assistant Drum Major.

 

Show:  Montero, You Really Got Me, Heliocerus, An American Trilogy.

 

November:

5th place at state competition. 1st place Drum Major.

Band-Superior,         Field Commander-Superior,

Guard-Superior,       Percussion-Superior.

1998 

 

January:

-All officers are re-elected.

 

March:

-LCHS Band trip to Orlando, Florida.

 

May:

-Assistant Director Lisa Wimberly resigns.

-Chris Metcalfe takes over as Assistant Director.

-Sara Bersche resigns as Assistant Drum Major.

-Darrin Duncan and Amanda Smith are chosen as Drum Majors, defeating Jessica Fielder and Brandon Scott.

 

September:

-Controversy involving Director Jim Whittenberg nearly leads to him resigning.

 

Show:  Hall of the Mountain King, Fur Elise, Beethoven's Fifth, Samson & Delilah, Bacchanal.

 

November:

3rd place prelims at state competition, 6th place finals.

Band-Superior,         Field Commander-Excellent,

Guard-Excellent,       Percussion-Superior.

1999

 

January:

-Brandon Bates elected as the 3rd Band Captain of the LCHS Band.

-Other winners include Josh Holloway (Lieutenant), Jennifer Burns (Sgt. of Arms), and Allison Rasbury (Secretary).        

 

April:

-Joint concert with DeKalb County High School Band.

 

May:

-Darrin Duncan remains Drum Major.

-Crystal Parker chosen as Assistant Drum Major, defeating Jessica Fielder.

-Overwhelming number of people quit the band program for controversial reasons.

 

July:

-Director Jim Whittenberg resigns. 

-Assistant Chris Metcalfe takes over as Director.

-Erin Stover becomes Assistant Director.

 

*Record breaking year: 1st place at every competition, and sweepstakes award at the Wolf River Marching Classic.

 

Show:  March from Symphonic Metamorphosis, Hoedown from Rodeo, Shaker Dance.

 

November:

8th place at state competition. 2nd place Drum Major.

Band-Superior,         Field Commander-Superior,

Guard-Superior,       Percussion-Excellent.

-Crystal Parker resigns as Assistant Drum Major.

January:

-Sara Bersche elected as the 4th Band Captain of the LCHS Band.

-Other winners include Michelle Bates (Lieutenant), David Stange (Sgt. of Arms), and Beth Walker (Secretary).

 

May:

-David Stange chosen as Drum Major, defeating Michelle Bates.

-Michelle Bates becomes Assistant Drum Major.

-Jennifer Burns resigns as Sgt. of Arms.

 

July:

-David Stange resigns as Sgt. of Arms.

-Harold Boudreaux elected Sgt. of Arms in special election.

 

Show:  Introduction & Fantasia, Carmina Burana, Pavane.

 

November:

12th place at state competition. 6th place Field Commander.

Band-Excellent,         Field Commander-Superior,

Guard-Good,            Percussion-Excellent.

 

December:

-Michelle Bates resigns as Lieutenant and Assistant Drum Major.

-Harold Boudreaux elected as the 5th Band Captain of the LCHS Band.

-Other winners include Ricky Parton (Lieutenant), Justin Carroll (Sgt. of Arms), and Beth Walker (Secretary).

-David Stange remains Drum Major.

-Ashley Bridge chosen as Drum Major, defeating Harold Boudreaux.

 

May:

-Assistant Director Erin Stover resigns.

-Tracy Luna takes over as Assistant Director.

 

June:

-Director Chris Metcalfe resigns.

-Assistant Tracy Luna takes over as Director.

 

July:

-Tim Fain becomes Assistant Director.

November:

10th place at state competition. 4th place Field Commander. 9th place Percussion.

-Amanda Hinson elected as the 6th Band Captain of the LCHS Band.

-Other winners include Brooks Aull (Lieutenant), Crystal Rogers (Sgt. of Arms), and Sasha Reeves (Secretary).

 

May:

-Ashley Bridge remains Drum Major.

 

July:

-Sara Shefsky and Andrew Perkins are chosen as Assistant Drum Majors.

November:

12th place at state competition. 9th place Percussion.

January:

-The LCHS Band is selected to perform in Governor Phil Bredesen's inaugural parade.

 

May:

-Andrew Perkins resigns as Drum Major.

-Jessica Criswell becomes Drum Major.

 

July:

-Due to policy changes, the offices of Lieutenant, Sgt. of Arms, and Secretary were eliminated.

-Robert Rawdon elected as the 7th Band Captain of the LCHS Band.

 

Show:  Galway Piper, Danny Boy, An Irish Party in Third Class.

 

November:

20th place at state competition.

Band-Excellent,          Field Commander-Superior,

Guard-Superior,         Percussion-Excellent.
